Where does the state guarantee the most of your savings?

Micronesia leads on guaranteed per bank at 250,000; Cyprus is last of the 15 shown at 112,994.

Every figure here is the maximum a national scheme pays one depositor if a bank fails, per bank, not per account. The law sets it in local currency; the dollar figure beside it exists only so the ceilings can be lined up, and it moves with the exchange rate rather than with the law.

Countries with no deposit-insurance scheme are absent rather than ranked at zero — the register behind this page records which those are and why. Money held with an e-money provider or payment app is usually safeguarded instead of guaranteed, which is a different promise: the funds are kept apart from the firm's own, but there is no fast statutory payout.

This is information, not financial advice, and a high ceiling is not a recommendation: it says what the state underwrites, nothing about a bank's own strength.

How this is worked out: Statutory deposit-guarantee limit per depositor per institution, hand-curated from each scheme or regulator's published page and checked on the date shown, converted to USD at the site's FX snapshot, highest first; countries with no scheme or no published ceiling excluded.
