Effective purchasing power
$338,983
Local equivalent of your income.
Lifestyle equilibrium cost
$29,500
Local income to match the same lifestyle.

$100,000 in Thailand buys what $338,983 buys at US prices (Consensus (median), 2025).
Compare across all data sources
The same country's price level differs by provider methodology and vintage. A tight spread means high confidence; a wide one means the truth is somewhere in between.
Source: Consensus (median) · Reference year 2025 (Thailand) · 3-source median
Median of independent votes (official-rate view: World Bank + IMF as one; Eurostat-OECD programme: OECD or Eurostat GDP; Penn World Table) per country, except where the curated exchange-regime register names one provider (basis). Year shown is the latest contributing vintage.
Fair Pay Salary Localizer
Enter a base salary and a home country, then pick a target country to see a cost-of-living-fair local equivalent: S_local = S_base × (I_target ÷ I_home).

A $150,000 United States salary is worth about $98,700 in Spain (0.66× the home cost of living).
Cost-of-living ratio: 0.66×. Figures are purchasing-power equivalents in your home currency, not market-FX conversions.

Frequently asked questions
- What is purchasing power parity (PPP)?
- PPP compares what money actually buys in different countries. A PPP index of 0.5 means goods and services cost about half of what they cost in the United States, so the same dollar income stretches twice as far.
- Where does the data come from?
- Real price-level figures from the World Bank, IMF World Economic Outlook, OECD, and the Penn World Table, refreshed at build time. The default 'consensus' source is the per-country median across the GDP-based providers.
- Why do the sources disagree?
- Providers use different baskets, reference years, and methodologies. The cross-source comparison view shows the spread; a tight spread means high confidence in the figure.
- Can AI agents use this calculator?
- Yes — the same math is exposed as a free JSON API at /api/calculate.json and declared as an MCP tool (calculate_ppp) in /.well-known/mcp.json. No API key is required.
