Questions
- Which passport is the most powerful?
- United Arab Emirates leads on visa-free access, reaching 169 of 199 destinations without arranging a visa in advance. Rank is shared: passports with identical access hold the same position rather than being separated arbitrarily.
- What counts as visa-free here?
- Destinations you can enter without arranging a visa before travelling — visa-free entry, visa on arrival, and electronic travel authorisations are counted together, because in practice they all mean you can book a flight. A destination requiring a visa applied for in advance is not counted, and neither is your own country.
- Does a strong passport mean I can live there?
- No, and this is the most common misreading. Visa-free access is for short visits — typically 30 to 90 days as a tourist, with no right to work. Living or working somewhere needs a residence permit or a visa of its own; the nomad-visa finder and tax-residency tracker cover that side.
- How current is this?
- The visa rules behind these numbers come from a dataset last changed 2026-02-18; this page was rebuilt from it on 2026-09-20. Those are different dates and the first is the one that matters. Visa policy changes continuously and bilateral agreements can take effect at short notice, so treat this as a strong guide and confirm with the destination's own immigration authority before booking.
