# Where to go, and whether you can

Where should I go — and am I allowed to?

Livability, climate, country risk, nomad visas, passport reach and the residency rules that decide where you are taxed.

### [Foreign Property Ownership Rules](https://geo-parity.com/move/?tab=property)

Whether a foreigner may buy a home there — freely, under conditions, as a lease or condo only, or not at all — with the headline transfer tax, curated from official pages.

GET /api/property-rules.json

### [Student Visas](https://geo-parity.com/move/?tab=study)

Student routes for each country — the funds to show, work hours allowed and the post-study stay — curated from official pages and matched to your funds.

GET /api/student-visas.json

### [Which Country Fits Me](https://geo-parity.com/move/?tab=fit)

Rank countries by what matters to you — cost, safety, healthcare, internet, air and English — with region, budget and visa as filters.

GET /api/country-fit.json

### [Climate Comfort Ranking](https://geo-parity.com/climate/)

Which cities are actually pleasant to be in, month by month — comfortable days measured from ten years of ERA5 reanalysis, not from opinions.

GET /api/climate.json

### [Quality of Life vs Cost Matrix](https://geo-parity.com/livability/)

Internet, safety, healthcare, air and English — weighted your way — against what a month actually costs, country by country.

GET /api/livability.json

### [Global Mobility — Visas & Passports](https://geo-parity.com/nomad-visas/)

Which nomad visas your income qualifies you for, plus how far your passport already takes you visa-free — two sides of mobility in one tool.

GET /api/nomad-visas.json

## Every figure here is computed, not collected

Nothing on this site is a crowdsourced estimate or an editorial top ten. Each tool runs a published dataset — World Bank, IMF, OECD, Eurostat, WHO, HUD — through an engine you can call yourself, and every JSON response carries a citation naming the source and the year it refers to. Where a figure is modelled rather than measured, the page says so.

Each tool above has a free JSON API and an MCP tool, listed on the card. See [how it works](https://geo-parity.com/about/) or the [ranked answers](https://geo-parity.com/best/) if you would rather start from a shortlist than a calculator.

Not sure which tool to start with? [Ask the adviser](https://geo-parity.com/adviser/) what matters to you (Pro), and it will work through these figures for you.

## Where is it pleasant right now?

Cost rankings ignore the weather entirely, which makes them a poor guide to where you would want to spend a year. A comfortable day here means a daily maximum between 18 and 27 °C with under 1 mm of rain — measured from ERA5 reanalysis, 2016–2025.

That band is a preference, not a verdict: it is temperate-biased, and somewhere hot scores badly on terms it never agreed to. The average high is shown beside every row so you can disagree with it.

| # | City | Comfortable days | Average high |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| 1 | 🇺🇸 Los Angeles, United States | 23 | 25°C |
| 2 | 🇺🇸 San Francisco, United States | 22 | 24.2°C |
| 3 | 🇨🇴 Bogotá, Colombia | 21 | 19.5°C |
| 4 | 🇵🇹 Porto, Portugal | 19 | 23.4°C |
| 5 | 🇨🇱 Santiago, Chile | 18 | 19.5°C |
| 6 | 🇹🇷 Istanbul, Türkiye | 16 | 24.7°C |
| 7 | 🇨🇦 Montréal, Canada | 16 | 21.6°C |
| 8 | 🇺🇸 New York, United States | 16 | 24.1°C |
| 9 | 🇰🇷 Seoul, South Korea | 16 | 25.4°C |
| 10 | 🇨🇦 Toronto, Canada | 16 | 23.1°C |

Cities, not countries — a country does not have one climate, and averaging a desert with a glacier describes nowhere. [JSON](https://geo-parity.com/api/climate.json?month=9)

## What could go wrong there?

INFORM Risk, from the European Commission's Joint Research Centre: exposure to earthquakes, floods, cyclones, drought and conflict, together with whether institutions could actually respond. Two countries can face the same hazard and have entirely different outcomes, and it is usually that second half which decides which.

Reported on its own and never folded into the cost or livability rankings. If you are comparing rent, you have not asked to have earthquake exposure quietly weighted into the answer.

| # | Country | Risk (0–10) | Band |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| 1 | 🇸🇬 Singapore | 0.7 | very low |
| 2 | Liechtenstein | 0.9 | very low |
| 3 | 🇱🇺 Luxembourg | 1.0 | very low |
| 4 | 🇩🇰 Denmark | 1.4 | very low |
| 5 | 🇸🇨 Seychelles | 1.4 | very low |
| 6 | 🇶🇦 Qatar | 1.5 | very low |
| 7 | 🇮🇸 Iceland | 1.6 | very low |
| 8 | 🇲🇹 Malta | 1.6 | very low |
| 9 | 🇳🇿 New Zealand | 1.6 | very low |
| 10 | 🇧🇭 Bahrain | 1.7 | very low |

Lower is safer. INFORM Risk 2026. A country INFORM does not score is left out rather than shown as zero — zero is the safest possible value and would rank an unassessed country first. [JSON](https://geo-parity.com/api/risk.json?limit=20)
